Cookie Policy
1. Does this website use cookies?
Only if you allow them. By default Crown Rides sets no cookies at all. The banner offers two separate permissions: analytics, so we can count visits and see which pages are useful, and advertising, so we can tell which adverts brought someone here. You can accept both, accept analytics only, or accept neither. No cookie is written and nothing is measured before you choose, and you may change your answer at any time.
One piece of Google software, Google Tag Manager, does load on every page before you choose. It is a container that decides which measurement tags may run; it stores nothing on your device and collects nothing on its own. It starts every visit with all storage set to denied through Google Consent Mode, and switches on only what you allow — analytics, or analytics and advertising. Loading it does mean your IP address reaches Google on every visit, in the same way it does for any file served from another company.
We use no social media cookies and no third-party tracking beyond the Google services described in section 5.
We do use a small amount of local storage in your browser to make the site work. Local storage is similar to a cookie but is never transmitted to our servers — it stays on your own device. Section 2 lists every item.
2. What is stored on your device
Four items, all strictly necessary for the website to function:
cr-lang — remembers whether you chose English or Spanish, so you are not asked again on every page. Stored until you clear your browser data.
cr-loaded — records that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not replay on every page. Cleared automatically when you close the browser.
cr-booking-v1 — saves your progress through the booking form (dates, locations, passenger numbers, chosen vehicle) so that refreshing the page or returning later does not lose your work.
cr-consent — remembers which of the three answers you gave: everything, analytics only, or nothing. Without it the banner would have to ask again on every page.
Only if you accept analytics, Google Analytics additionally sets two cookies:
_ga — tells one visitor apart from another, so a returning reader is not counted twice. Expires after two years.
_ga_<id> — keeps track of a single visit. Expires after two years.
Decline, and neither of these is ever created.
3. Your personal details are deliberately not stored
This is worth stating plainly. Your name, email address, telephone number, company reference and any notes you write for your chauffeur are never saved to your device. They exist only in the page while you are filling the form, and are sent to us when you submit the booking.
We made this choice specifically to protect people booking from a shared, public or hotel computer. Anything saved to a browser can be read by the next person who uses it, so we do not save anything personal.
4. Do you need to consent?
Under Spanish law (Ley 34/2002, LSSI-CE, article 22.2) and the EU ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
Everything in the first list in section 2 is strictly necessary — remembering your language, not repeating an animation, not losing a half-finished booking, and remembering the answer you gave to this very question. None of it is used to track you, build a profile, or share anything with a third party, so no consent is required for those.
Analytics and advertising are different, so we ask first. Neither script is downloaded and neither cookie is created unless you choose to allow it. Google Tag Manager loads either way, but with every storage type denied until you accept, so it writes nothing and measures nothing in the meantime. Declining costs you nothing: the site behaves in exactly the same way.
You can change your answer whenever you like using the Cookie settings link at the foot of any page.
5. Third-party services
Google Maps — on the booking page only, when you enter a pickup and drop-off address, we use Google Maps to calculate your route, distance and journey time. Those addresses are sent to Google, and Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. If you do not use the booking page, Google Maps is never loaded.
PayPal — if you pay by card or with a PayPal balance, payment is completed on PayPal’s own secure page. PayPal sets its own cookies there, governed by PayPal’s privacy policy. Crown Rides never sees or stores your card details.
Google Analytics — only after you accept. It records which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from and which site referred you. It is configured with IP anonymisation, we do not send it your name, email or any booking detail, and we do not use it for advertising. Data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
Google Tag Manager — on every page, including before you choose. It carries no measurement of its own: it decides which tags are allowed to run, and holds them all until consent is given. Requesting it tells Google your IP address and which page you are on. Data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
Google Ads — only if you accept advertising. It records that a visit, and any booking that follows, came from one of our adverts, so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for. It sets its own cookies (_gcl_*) for that purpose. Choosing "Analytics only" or "Only essential" stops it entirely.
Fonts — our typefaces are hosted on our own server, not on a font network, so no data about you is sent to a third party in order to display this page.
6. How to remove this data
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings, usually under "Clear browsing data" or "Site data". Doing so will simply mean the site asks for your language again and forgets any unfinished booking.
Blocking local storage entirely will not break the website. The language chooser will appear on each visit and booking progress will not be kept, but everything else works normally.
To withdraw consent for analytics without clearing anything else, use the Cookie settings link at the foot of any page and choose Only essential.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date below. For any question about this policy, or to exercise your data protection rights, contact us using the details in our Privacy Policy.
